Cheerilee is a classic character from MLP's past, and as such this design was actually by request. When her updated design appeared in the show, the idea for the shoe design came soon after. Actually, the color palette worked better than expected. There wasn't any dark pink option for the trim, so the lighter pink used to mimic the outline on her mane really brightened up the overall look of it. This one sticks very closely to the mane=shoe tongue design idea, you can clearly see Cheerilee's bangs at the top of the tongue. I liked how that looked, and used that idea on a few others as well.
